Twinkle Business stele c12 when a business does the right thing, we twinkle up x2, sustainable, humane, organic, clean energy into ethical businesses we walk when a business does bad things, we twinkle down into unethical businesses we walk fair-trade, fair-wages, equal opportunity when a business does the right thing, we twinkle up ======== two spoons – Twinkled Up mustards last stand – Twinkled Up we have not yet yelped.com the twinkle results for these biz’es ===== Occupying and twinkling on the sidewalk in front of a business is a superb way to encourage the business to stop selling or promoting an environmentally unethical product. So here are some Occupy ideas that can help empower individuals — and groups — when they occupy and twinkle on the sidewalk in front of specific environmentally or socially irresponsible businesses. Before occupying, first ask the manager or owner of a business to stop taking a specific earth killing action, and ask them to sign a prewritten statement saying they promise to do so. (The agreement does not have to be typed or fancy. An agreement that is handwritten on the back of an old flyer is fine.) If the manager or business owner says yes, then have them sign their copy and your copy of the agreement that states that they will stop taking the stated environmentally bad action. Then celebrate with them for a moment and recite a nice poem and/or thankyou message and/or give them a gift. Also twinkle up the business inside to honor their stand. Once they have said yes, go outside and joyfully occupy and twinkle in front of the business to celebrate their agreement for promising to take the stated action. If possible, take a picture of the signed agreement and email it to your contacts. Then show the signed paper to passersby and invite them to celebrate the victory. Consider using the ecofx.org/occupy idea to Dance around the perimeter of an area representing the approximate area of habitat that the agreement will help protect (or a smaller area that represents a multiple thereof). If the manager or owner says they will not agree to the requests, but say they will consider the request. Then say, “ok, so will you please sign that you and your business’s management will consider this request?” If they say yes, then write these words on the bottom of the statement. “This is only a statement of request. This manager (or owner) agrees that this business will consider this request(s).” Once they have signed the agreement to consider the request, go outside and optimistically occupy and twinkle in front of the business to cheer on their agreement to consider the stated action. Consider using the ecofx.org/occupy concept to step around an area representing the approximate area of habitat that the future agreement will help protect (or a smaller area that represents a multiple thereof). If possible, take a picture of the signed agreement to consider, and email it to your contacts. Then show the signed paper to passersby and invite them to cheer on the victory. If a business says they will NOT stop taking the action that hurts our planet and the people, and will NOT sign an agreement to consider the request, THEN (while in front of the owner/ manager) on the bottom of the agreement write, on this day “date here” owner (or manager) “their name here” has refused to sign this request to consider. Signed, “your name here”. Then tell them that you must occupy and twinkle on the sidewalk in front of the doors of the business. Again, try using the ecofx.org/occupy idea and walk and stomp around an area representing the approximate area of habitat that the future agreement would have helped protect (or a smaller area that represents a multiple thereof). If possible, take a picture of the un-signed agreement, and email it to your contacts. Then show the un-signed paper to passersby and invite them to stomp with you. Sign, green and/or blue clothe or flags with the appropriate words and/or the planet drawn on it held up in the air or tied around the wrist or arm are good to add to Occupy business actions. Quarter page flyers about your action to give to passersby and customers are great too. Once completed, the results of the Twinkle Business action can be entered on yelp.com and as a Google business review. ==== Please pass this song around to favorite musicians. When the General Assembly meets the people use hand signals to convey how they feel about what is being said. The use of hand signals allows the speaker to continue talking without interruption, though the audience is still communicating their approval or disagreement. Plus, wiggling your fingers is fun! Training video on how to run a general assembly in your own community as part of the Occupy Wall Street movement.Hand signs, roles etc. This training session was held at Washington Square Park in New York City on October 8, 2011. A look into the “HOW” of the Occupy Wall Street movement: The consensus process. The community of occupiers at Liberty Plaza have sparked the process of building a movement that now transcends any one physical landmark. The tools to keep the movement alive belong to all of us. Created by the Meerkat Media Collective. For the last 6 years we’ve been using consensus decision making in our filmmaking process – http://meerkatmedia.org THE MOVEMENT: http://www.OccupyTogether.org http://www.OccupyWallSt.org http://www.OccupyVideos.org MORE ON CONSENSUS: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/10/08/1022710/–occupywallstreet:-a-primer… START YOUR OWN GENERAL ASSEMBLY: http://nycga.cc/resources/general-assembly-guide/ |
